This Week in Sport: 9th September − 15th September 2024
There are some great sporting events taking place around the world this week. The San Francisco 49ers play the New York Jets in the NFL on Monday, the Netherlands take on Germany in the Nations League on Tuesday, England will host Australia for a three-match T20 series starting on Wednesday, there is more NFL action on Thursday with the Miami Dolphins taking on the Buffalo Bills, and Friday will see the start of the Solheim Cup.
Heading into the weekend, the T20 Blast Finals day is on Saturday, and Tottenham Hotspur battles Arsenal in the North London Derby on Sunday.
NFL: San Francisco 49ers v New York Jets

The San Francisco 49ers and the New York Jets will round out Week 1 of the new NFL season on Monday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara. This is a matchup of talented rosters with Super Bowl aspirations. The 49ers will aim to start their campaign with a home victory and make it to the Super Bowl once again. Meanwhile, the Jets will hope for a better season than the last and avoid missing the Playoffs for the 14th straight year.
UEFA Nations League: Netherlands v Germany

Tuesday will see the Netherlands take on Germany in the UEFA Nations League at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam. Germany won 2-1 at home when the teams last met in March, but the overall head-to-head record of the last 14 games is close, with 4 wins each and 6 draws.
Cricket in England: England v Australia (1st T20I)

England will host Australia in the first of a three-match T20 series on Wednesday at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. The T20 series will be followed by a five-match ODI series. Although the scheduling of the games could be questioned as some weather interruptions appear likely, the stage is still set for an exciting and closely contested pair of series between the two rivals.
NFL: Miami Dolphins v Buffalo Bills

Thursday sees AFC East foes clash when the Miami Dolphins host the Buffalo Bills at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. The Dolphins, on the other hand, are looking for revenge and will hope with home field advantage (7-2 at home last season), they can get one over their divisional rivals. This game is shaping up to be an exciting one.
Solheim Cup: Solheim Cup Day 1

The 19th edition of the Solheim Cup, the thrilling women's golf team tournament, where Team USA face Team Europe, will take place from Friday at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Virginia. Team Europe are the reigning Solheim Cup holders, having tied the last edition and winning the two editions prior, while Team USA are favourites to regain this time on home soil.
T20 Blast: T20 Blast Finals Day

The T20 Blast Finals Day, which will see the two Semifinals and the Final played back-to-back-to-back, is on Saturday at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
