This Week in Sport: 8th July − 14th July 2024

The upcoming week is stacked with exciting sporting events. On Monday, the Wimbledon Championship continues into its second week, Spain lock horns with France in the first Euros Semifinal on Tuesday and Wednesday sees England play West Indies in the first Test of the series, at Lord's. On Thursday, the Evian Championship begins, and Friday will see the Diamond League head to Monaco.

Heading into the weekend, New Zealand take on England in Rugby Union action on Saturday, and the week is rounded out by the Euro 2024 Final on Sunday.

Grand Slam (Tennis): Wimbledon 2024 Day 8

The Wimbledon Championships continue on Monday at the All England Lawn Tennis Club in London. Highlights of Day 8 of the tournament include Holger Rune facing Novak Djokovic, Taylor Fritz playing Alexander Zverev, and Elena Rybakina taking on Anna Kalinskaya. The Final of the Ladies' Singles will be on Saturday with the Men's Final on Sunday.

UEFA European Championship: Spain v France

Tuesday 9th July 7:00PM GMT/9:00PM Local Time

Allianz Arena, Munich

Tuesday will see an epic UEFA European Football Championship Semi-final between Spain and France at the Allianz Arena in Munich. Both teams have been undefeated so far and both teams will look to add another European Championship to their tally. Spain will be slight favourites based on performances so far but you can never count France out. England play the Netherlands on Wednesday in the second Semi-final.

Cricket in England: England v West Indies (1st Test) Day 1

Lord's Cricket Ground, London

On Wednesday, Test Cricket returns as England host the West Indies for a three Test series. The first Test is at Lord's Cricket Ground in London and all eyes will be on James Anderson, as the veteran bowler plays his final match for his country. He will be out to add to his tally of 700 Test wickets in what will no doubt be an incredible occasion.

Ladies European & LPGA Tour: Evian Championship Day 1

Evian Resort Golf Club, Évian-les-Bains

The fourth Women's major tournament of the year, the Evian Championship, begins at the Evian Resort Golf Club in Evian-les-Bains on Thursday. Celine Boutier will be looking to defend her title on home soil and Brooke Henderson will be looking to regain the trophy after her 2022 triumph. Amy Yang, who won the most recent major championship at the U.S. Women's Open, will aim to add another major title to her name. As always, Nelly Korda will no doubt be a major contender for the title too.

Diamond League: Diamond League Monaco

Friday 12th July 5:00PM GMT/7:00PM Local Time

Stade Louis II, Monaco

On Friday, the Diamond League heads to Monaco at the Stade Louis II. The event will see top athletes like Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Mondo Duplantis, and Karsten Warholm competing in an exciting selection of events as the Summer Olympics quickly approach.

International Test Match (Rugby Union): New Zealand v England

Eden Park, Auckland

Saturday sees New Zealand take on England in an exciting Rugby Union Test match at Eden Park in Auckland. England were so close to winning this past weekend in a thrilling 16-15 win for the All Blacks. Eden Park is the hardest place in international rugby for an away side to secure a victory so England will have to be at their very best to secure an incredible upset.

UEFA European Championship: Final

Olympiastadion, Berlin

The highly anticipated UEFA European Football Championship Final will take place on Sunday at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. Only four teams remain - Spain, France, England and the Netherlands, with the Semifinals taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday. England are the only team amongst the four never to win the title so they will be desperate to go one better than the last edition where they lost to Italy in the Final.
