Coco Gauff in the United Cup

There are some great sporting events taking place around the world this week. On Monday, the fourth Test between Australia and India concludes, Tuesday sees the Los Angeles Lakers take on the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA, and Oregon play Ohio State in the Quarterfinals of the NCAA College Football Playoff Tournament on Wednesday. Rangers will host Celtic in the Scottish Premier League on Thursday, and Friday will see the Final of the PDC World Darts Championship.

Wrapping up the week, the United Cup Semifinals will take place on Saturday, and Liverpool battle Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday.

Cricket in Australia: Australia v India (4th Test) Day 5

The fourth Test between Australia and India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series moves to Day 5 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Australia set a target of 340 and need 10 wickets to win the fourth Test and take a 2-1 lead in the series. India, on the other hand, will look to chase down the runs and hold the trophy for the fifth time in succession.

NBA: Los Angeles Lakers v Cleveland Cavaliers

Tuesday will see the Los Angeles Lakers take on the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA at the Crypto.com Arena. The Lakers enter this game with two straight wins and will hope to keep the momentum going to climb the Western Conference standings. The Cavaliers, boast the league's best record at 27-4 and are on a 6-game win streak. This should be a great game.

NCAA College Football: Oregon v Ohio State

On Wednesday, Oregon will play Ohio State in the Rose Bowl as part of the NCAA College Football Playoff Quarterfinals at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. In other Quarterfinal games, Arizona State will take on Texas in the Peach Bowl, Georgia will lock horns with Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl and Boise State will face Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl. The Semifinal games will be played on 9th and 10th January and the National Championship Game will take place on 20th January.

Scottish Premier League: Rangers v Celtic

Rangers will host Celtic in Thursday’s Old Firm clash in the Scottish Premier League at Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow. Rangers sit second in the table, 14 points behind league leaders Celtic, and will aim to close the gap with a win at home. Meanwhile, Celtic remain unbeaten this season and will be confident of securing another league title.

PDC Darts: Paddy Power World Darts Championship Final

Friday 3rd January 8:00PM GMT/8:00PM Local Time

Alexandra Palace, London

Friday sees the PDC World Darts Championship Final take place at Alexandra Palace in London. Defending champion and tournament favourite Luke Humphries was knocked out by Peter Wright in the last 16 on Sunday. Meanwhile, 17-year-old English sensation Luke Littler is still in the tournament and will fancy his chances to go all the way.

ATP and WTA Tour: United Cup Semi-final

The United Cup will reach its business end with the Semifinals taking place on Saturday at the Ken Rosewall Arena in Sydney. Tournament favorites, the United States, with a strong line-up including Taylor Fritz and Coco Gauff remain in contention. Defending champions Germany and a strong Polish team also have high hopes of taking the title. The Final will take place on Sunday.

Premier League: Liverpool v Manchester United

Anfield, Liverpool

The week ends with Liverpool hosting Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday at Anfield. Liverpool sit top of the standings, holding an eight-point lead over second-placed Nottingham Forest with a game in hand. They will look to extend their lead with a win at home. Manchester United, on the other hand, are winless in their last three matches across all competitions and are in desperate need of a victory.
