There are some exciting events coming up this week in the world of sport. On Monday, the Vuelta a España continues, Tuesday sees tennis action at the US Open, and England host New Zealand in the first T20 of their series on Wednesday. On Thursday, the Diamond League heads to Zurich, and Hull Kingston Rovers take on Catalan Dragons on Friday in Super League action.

Heading into the weekend, Pakistan play India in the Asia Cup on Saturday, and Arsenal host Manchester United on Sunday in the Premier League.

Vuelta a España: Vuelta a España Stage 3

Súria, Spain

The Vuelta a España continues, with stage three on Monday seeing the riders tackle the first mountains of the race, heading from Súria in Spain almost 160 kilometres to Arinsal in Andorra. Some notable riders in this year’s race include Tour de France winner Jonas Vingegaard, as well as Primož Roglič, Remco Evenepoel, and Geraint Thomas.

Grand Slam (Tennis): US Open Day 2

USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, New York

The US Open gets underway this week, with the world’s best heading to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center for the final tennis grand slam of the year. In the women’s singles, Iga Świątek returns to defend her title, and Carlos Alcaraz, who is just off the back of an impressive Wimbledon victory, will also be looking to win this tournament in consecutive years.

Cricket in England: England v New Zealand

Riverside Ground, Chester-le-Street

The first of four T20 matches between England and New Zealand will take place on Wednesday, with the match being hosted at the Riverside Ground. England are current T20 world champions, but New Zealand will undoubtedly be a tough test for the home side.

Diamond League: Diamond League Zurich

Stadion Letzigrund, Zürich

There is Diamond League action this week, with some of the world’s best athletes heading to Zurich in Switzerland to showcase their talents. Some notable events in this edition of the competition include Women’s 100 metres, Men’s 1500 metres, and Men’s high jump.

Super League: Hull Kingston Rovers v Catalans Dragons

Craven Park Stadium, Hull

Friday will see Hull Kingston Rovers host the Catalan Dragons in the Super League. The visitors currently sit top of the table and will be hoping to cement their position against this year’s Challenge Cup runners-up. The last time these sides met, the Dragons won comfortably 38-4.

Asia Cup (Cricket): India v Pakistan

Saturday 2nd September 9:30AM GMT/3:00PM Local Time

Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele

There is more exciting cricket action on Saturday, as Pakistan face off against rivals India in the Asia Cup, which will be played in an ODI format. Both sides are amongst the favourites to win the competition outright and will be hoping to show their strength early in the tournament.

Premier League: Arsenal v Manchester United

Sunday 3rd September 3:30PM GMT/4:30PM Local Time

Emirates Stadium, London

Premier League action rounds out the week as Arsenal host Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal are undefeated after their first three games, drawing 2-2 against Fulham in their last game. United, on the other hand, have lost once this season, but showed resilience in their previous game against Nottingham Forest, coming back from two down to win 3-2.
