This Week in Sport: 27th November − 3rd December 2023
There are some exciting fixtures coming up this week in the world of sport. On Monday, the Colorado Avalanche face the Tampa Bay Lightning in the NHL, Tuesday will see India host Australia in the third T20 match of the series, and Galatasaray take on Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. On Thursday, the snooker UK Championship continues, and the Boston Celtics will play the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday.
Heading into the weekend, Premiership Rugby will see Bath Rugby host Exeter Chiefs on Saturday, and NFL action rounds out the week, with the Philadelphia Eagles taking on the San Francisco 49ers.

NHL action kicks off the week, as the Colorado Avalanche host the Tampa Bay Lightning at the Ball Arena in Denver on Monday. The Avalanche, who made it to the first round of the Playoffs last season, have had a superb start to the new season, sitting top of the Central Division with 14 wins out of 20. The Lightning’s start has been mixed in comparison, losing 11 of their first 21 games.
Cricket in India: India v Australia

On Tuesday, India will take on Australia in the third of five T20 matches, with this match taking place at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. India currently lead their opponents 2-0 in the series, and will be looking to wrap it up in this next match, whilst Australia face an uphill struggle, needing to win all three of the final matches to clinch the series.
UEFA Champions League: Galatasaray v Manchester United

Wednesday will see an important match in Group A in the UEFA Champions League, as Turkish side Galatasaray host English side Manchester United at the Ali Sami Yen Stadium in İstanbul. The two sides currently sit outside of the qualification places for the knockout stages, and with two matches remaining, this one is a must win for both.
Snooker Majors: UK Championship Day 6

On Thursday, the UK Championship, one of the Triple Crown snooker tournaments, will continue. Amongst the favourites to win the UK Championship are Judd Trump, Mark Selby, Ronnie O’Sullivan, and Mark Williams. The 2022 champion, Mark Allen, was defeated in the first round by Ding Junhui, ending the defence of his title.
NBA: Boston Celtics v Philadelphia 76ers

NBA action will take place on Friday, as the Philadelphia 76ers travel to Massachusetts to face the Boston Celtics at TD Garden. The Celtics are looking like the team to beat this season, sitting top of the Eastern Conference with a record of 13-4. The 76ers themselves have started the season strongly, having a record of 11-5 to start the season, so this should be an exciting affair.
Premiership Rugby: Bath Rugby v Exeter Chiefs

Premiership Rugby will see Bath Rugby host Exeter Chiefs on Saturday at The Recreation Ground. The two sides sit fourth and third, respectively, so will be relatively happy with their starts to the season. Bath come off the back of an 11-9 loss to Sale Sharks in their previous game, whilst Exeter will be eyeing a third win in a row, after beating Newcastle Falcons and Gloucester Rugby in their last two games.
NFL: Philadelphia Eagles v San Francisco 49ers

Rounding out the week, last season’s Super Bowl runners-up, the Philadelphia Eagles, will take on the San Francisco 49ers at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday. The Eagles have had a blistering start to the season, sitting on a record of 10-1, and winning their last five in a row. The 49ers have also started strongly, sitting top of the NFC West with a record of 8-3, and winning their last three in a row.
