This Week in Sport: 27th May − 2nd June 2024

There is some exciting sport on offer this week. On Monday, the Edmonton Oilers take on the Dallas Stars in the NHL Playoffs, England take on Pakistan in the third T20 of the series, and the French Open continues Wednesday. Thursday sees the US Women’s Open begin, and Northampton Saints take on Saracens in the Premiership Rugby Semifinals on Friday.

Heading into the weekend, Borussia Dortmund face Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League Final on Saturday, and Sunday will see the Diamond League head to Sweden.

NHL: Edmonton Oilers v Dallas Stars

The Edmonton Oilers face the Dallas Stars in the Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals on Monday at Rogers Place. The series is currently 1-1, after the Stars won 3-1 at home to level the series in the last matchup.

Cricket in England: England v Pakistan (3rd T20I)

Tuesday 28th May 5:30PM GMT/6:30PM Local Time

Sophia Gardens, Cardiff

Tuesday will see England take on Pakistan at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, in what is the third of four T20 matches between the two sides in preparation for the T20 World Cup this June. England lead the series 1-0 after the first match was abandoned and the second they won by 23 runs. Both sides will want to take good form into the World Cup.

Grand Slam (Tennis): French Open 2024 Day 4

On Wednesday, the second tennis major of the year, the French Open, continues into its fourth day at the Stade Roland Garros in Paris. Wednesday will see the start of the second round, with Naomi Osaka, Caroline Garcia and Jeļena Ostapenko all having booked their places already in the women’s singles, whilst in the men’s, Carlos Alcaraz will face Jesper De Jong, and Andrey Rublev will take on Pedro Martínez.

LPGA Tour: US Women's Open (LPGA Tour)

Thursday 30th May 4:00PM GMT/12:00PM Local Time

Lancaster Country Club, Pennsylvania

Thursday will see the LPGA Tour’s US Women’s Open begin at the Lancaster Country Club in Pennsylvania. World number one, Nelly Korda, who is looking for her first win in this competition, will come in as many people’s favourite, after winning six of her last seven events, but will face tough competition against reigning Champion Allisen Corpuz and several others.

Premiership Rugby: Northampton Saints v Saracens

Friday 31st May 6:45PM GMT/7:45PM Local Time

Franklin's Gardens, Northampton

On Friday, the Premiership Rugby season enters its business end with the Semifinals of the competition, as Northampton Saints take on Saracens at Franklin’s Gardens. The Saints finished top of the table in the regular season, whilst Saracens are the reigning Champions, so this is sure to be an exciting match.

UEFA Champions League: Borussia Dortmund v Real Madrid

Wembley Stadium, London

The UEFA Champions League reaches its climax on Saturday as Borussia Dortmund face Real Madrid in the Final on Saturday at Wembley Stadium. Dortmund have perhaps surprised many by reaching this stage of the competition and are hoping to secure their second win in this competition, whilst their opponents are on the hunt for their 15th title in the competition.

Diamond League: Diamond League

Stockholm Olympic Stadium, Stockholm

On Sunday, the Diamond League heads to Stockholm for the BAUHAUS-gala at the Stockholm Olympic Stadium. This Sunday’s event will see the top four women’s shot-put athletes compete, as well as the women’s 400m World Champion Femke Bol, as well as many other world class athletes taking part in their respective events.
