This Week in Sport: 19th February − 25th February 2024
There are some huge sporting events taking place this week in the world of sport. On Monday, the Boston Bruins will take on the Dallas Stars in the NHL, Inter Milan host Atlético Madrid in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 on Tuesday, and Wednesday will see New Zealand face Australia in a T20 matchup. On Thursday, Oklahoma City Thunder host the Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA, and Friday will see the fourth Test match of the series between India and England begin.
Heading into the weekend, the Six Nations continues this week, with Scotland hosting England, and the Carabao Cup will reach its conclusion on Sunday, as Chelsea face Liverpool in the Final.
NHL: Boston Bruins v Dallas Stars

The Boston Bruins will host the Dallas Stars in the NHL on Monday at TD Garden. The Bruins currently sit second in the Atlantic Division with a record of 32-12-11, falling below the Florida Panthers after sitting top of the division for much of the season so far, but are on a losing streak of four. The Stars, on the other hand, remain top of the Central Division with a record of 34-14-7.
UEFA Champions League: Inter Milan v Atlético Madrid

On Tuesday, the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 continues with an exciting first leg fixture between Inter Milan and Atlético Madrid at the San Siro. The hosts, who lost to Manchester City in the Final of the 2023 Champions League, finished second in their group, whilst Atlético finished top of their group. Neither side have lost so far in this year’s competition, so this is sure to be a high-quality affair.
Cricket in New Zealand: New Zealand v Australia (1st T20I)

On Wednesday, the first of three T20 matches between New Zealand and Australia will take place at Sky Stadium in Wellington. The hosts currently sit second in the T20I World Rankings, whilst the Australians are fourth, showing the quality both sides possess. The three T20s this month will be followed by two Test matches in Wellington and Christchurch.
NBA: Oklahoma City Thunder v Los Angeles Clippers

The Oklahoma City Thunder will take on the Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA on Thursday at the Paycom Center. This matchup sees two of the best sides in the Western Conference go head-to-head. The Thunder and the Clippers sit in second and third, respectively, in the table. The hosts hold a record of 37-17, whilst the visitors have a record of 36-17.
Cricket in India: India v England (4th Test) Day 1

On Friday, the fourth of five Test matches between India and England will begin at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi. India took a 2-1 lead in the series in the third Test, beating England comfortably by 434 runs. This comes after a solid performance by the hosts in the second Test. England will want to show the quality that they demonstrated in the First Test match to have a chance of levelling the series here.
Six Nations: Scotland v England

Saturday will see the Six Nations continue, with England travelling to Murrayfield Stadium to face old rivals Scotland. Scotland have had a mixed start to the tournament, narrowly beating Wales and losing to France. England have won both their matches against Italy and Wales but have not produced a performance anywhere near their best so far.
Carabao Cup: Chelsea v Liverpool

Wembley Stadium, London
The Carabao Cup Final will take place on Sunday, as Chelsea and Liverpool head to Wembley to battle it out for the title. Chelsea thrashed Championship side Middlesbrough 6-1 in the second leg of their Semi-Final, winning the tie 6-2 overall on aggregate. Liverpool, who currently sit top of the Premier League and are looking strong this season, beat Fulham 3-2 on aggregate in their Semi-Final matchup.
