Event of the Day: Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Cup
Our event of the day
is the final day of the Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Cup in Lake Placid in the State of New York in the USA. Today features both the Men’s Skeleton and the Men’s two-man Bobsleigh events. Yesterday saw Austrian Janine Flock take the Gold medal in the Women’s Skeleton and the Canadian team of Kaillie Humphries and Melissa Lotholz secured first place in the Women’s Bobsleigh. In the Men’s two-man Bobsleigh event German pair, Nico Walther and Christian Poser took the victory. The two-man Bobsleigh teams have an event again today as the ice consistency is not good enough for the four-man Bobsleigh event - it was decided that the two-man teams will race twice this time and the four-men teams will race twice at the next event.
Lake Placid is the first of eight venues in this season’s World Cup schedule - the next event is next week in Park City, Utah. This year’s Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Cup has added significance as it is an Olympic year and everything builds towards PyeongChang 2018 which starts on the 9th February. Get ready for a thrilling day of action on the ice.
