Malawi's national football team, known as The Flames, has been competing in international tournaments since 1962. They have participated in the African Cup of Nations six times, making it to the quarter-finals in 1984. The team has yet to win a major international tournament, but they have shown great promise in recent years, winning the COSAFA Cup in 2015 and finishing as runners-up in 2018.
