There are some massive events taking place in the world of sport this week. The 20th FINA World Aquatics Championships continue on Monday in Fukuoka, on Tuesday, the final ODI of the Women’s Ashes takes place, and Wednesday sees the fourth Test match of the Ashes at Old Trafford Cricket Ground. On Thursday, the much-anticipated FIFA Women’s World Cup gets underway with New Zealand taking on Norway, and Friday sees the Diamond League travel to Monaco.

Heading into the weekend, Saturday sees the penultimate stage of the Tour de France take place, and on Sunday, the final round of The Open Championship at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club will be held.

World Aquatics Championships: 20th FINA World Aquatics Championships

On Monday, the 20th FINA World Aquatics Championships continue in Fukuoka, with the most notable events taking place on the day being the Women's Synchronised 3m Springboard Final and the Men's Synchronised 10m Platform Final. Looking ahead, diving action continues throughout the week, as well as events in water polo, artistic swimming, and open water swimming. Swimming events get underway on Sunday, which will be the highlight for the rest of the competition.

Cricket in England: England Women v Australia Women

On Tuesday, England and Australia head to the County Ground Taunton for the third and final ODI, and the final match of the Women’s Ashes Series overall. The last ODI saw Australia narrowly beat England by 3 runs to retain the Ashes for another series. However, after winning the T20 series 2-1, with a win in this final ODI, England can prevent Australia from winning the series outright.

Old Trafford Cricket Ground, Manchester

On Wednesday, the penultimate Ashes Test will take place at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester. In what has been a thrilling series so far, Australia take a 2-1 lead into the fourth Test match. The third Test saw a brilliant innings from Harry Brook to help get England across the line, and his captain Ben Stokes will be hoping this gives his side the momentum to prevent Australia from retaining the Ashes.

FIFA Women's World Cup: New Zealand Women v Norway Women

Thursday sees the beginning of the FIFA Women’s World Cup hosted in Australia and New Zealand. The first match of the tournament will see New Zealand take on Norway in Auckland, whilst co-hosts Australia will face the Republic of Ireland later that day. Current favourites to win the competition include reigning champions, the USA, and European champions England. This is sure to be an exciting tournament.

Diamond League: Diamond League Monaco

Stade Louis II, Monaco

The Diamond League heads to Monaco on Friday for a day of exciting Athletics events. The event will see some of the world’s best athletes take part and showcase their talents. Notable events to watch out for include the women’s 200m, which will see the likes of Shericka Jackson, Gabrielle Thomas, and Dina Asher-Smith, as well as the men’s pole vault, where world record holder Mondo Duplantis will compete. The Diamond League then heads to the London Stadium on Sunday.

Tour de France: Tour de France Stage 20

Saturday 22nd July 11:30AM GMT/1:30PM Local Time

Belfort, France

On Saturday, the penultimate stage of the Tour de France will take place, as the riders begin at Belfort and travel almost 135 kilometres through the Vosges Mountains to Le Markstein. This stage, the final mountain stage of the race, could be crucial in the General Classification, with favourites Jonas Vingegaard and Tadej Pogačar only separated by 10 seconds at the beginning of the week.

Major Championships (Golf): The Open Championship Day 4

Sunday 23rd July 8:00AM GMT/9:00AM Local Time

Royal Liverpool Golf Club, Wirral

Sunday sees the final round of The Open Championship take place at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club. The event is the final of four majors in the golf season, and last year’s winner was Australian, Cameron Smith. This year, favourites for the title include Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler, and Rory McIlroy.
